Angry Voices

I paced around my bedroom. My head was spinning, I needed an escape. Below me Mum and Dad were yelling, roaring at each other like wild beasts. Even though I couldn't hear, I was sure my little sister, Lily, was crying.

I opened my door and walked into the upstairs hallway. This is all your fault Arthur!!”

Excuse me! It isn't my fault!! Who do you think you are Betty!?!”

The voices were furious. I heard something smash. Quickly I dashed into my sisters bedroom, and slammed the door behind me.

Lily was red in the face. Her eyes were squinty and her lips were quivering.Tears were streaming down her cheeks. I picked her up and hugged her.Its alright Lily” I lied. You'll be fine." Lily stared at me.

Will Mommy and Daddy be alright as well?” she asked.

I shook my head.I don't know” I admitted.

Lily cried a little more. I put her down on her bed gently, and pulled my ipod from out of my pocket.Listen” I commanded, handing it to her. She poked the ear pieces in her ears and closed her eyes.

I pushed her hair out of her sodden eyes and pecked her forehead.Night night” she yawned. I nodded and left the room.

Mum and Dad were still screaming at each other.

I ran into my room and tore open my drawers. I stuffed some clothes and an old blanket into my school bag and ran downstairs. No-one noticed me as I slipped out the front door.

As soon as the cold Autumn wind whipped my face I started running. My pink converses pounded on the concrete with a life of their own. My whole body ached. I ran down the hill, crying.

My school bag was heavy on my slouching shoulders. I crossed the road. Headlights flashed in my face as I ran back onto the path and towards Deep Lane Forest. Why” I asked my feet "are we going to the forest?”

Of course, I got no answer.

I slowed down and crept through the maze of towering branches and leaves, one thought running through my mind.

Spooky.

It is a bit, isn't it?” a girl said.

I stumbled backwards, hitting my head on a tree. A purple light shone in my eyes, and I felt like I was physically spinning.

She's here” someone whispered.
